Where are you located?

In picturesque Kanab, Utah, where the cliffs are red, the scenery is awe-inspiring, and the folks are friendly. We’re close to Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, The Grand Canyon, Grand Staircase-Escalante Monument, Lake Powell, and several other interesting sites.

Do you have a recommendation for a hotel?

There are lots of great places to stay here in Kanab. From RVs to hotels, we’ve got you covered. Four hotels have special rates for conference attendees:

* Parry’s Lodge ($67.00-Full Buffet Breakfast)
* Best Western ($85.00- Continental Breakfast)
* Day’s Inn ($79.00-Breakfast Buffet)
* Treasure Trail Motel (Ask the manager, Rebecca, about the special rate. Includes coffee and fruit, free 9 holes of golf)

How long has the conference been around?

Our first conference was held in 2009 under the title, “The Writers of the Purple Sage.” In 2013, the conference was updated and expanded, with the addition of more classes, greater range of topics, and a stellar staff. To match the changes and intended direction of the conference, the name was changed to “Kanab Writers Conference.”

Can I register at the door?

While we’d like to have an accurate count of registrants before the conference starts, we will have registration at the door. The cost is $40, if registering online, and $50 at the door. Lunch is included in the cost of the registration.

Can I sell something in the bookstore?

Any one who is a registered attendee can put their works in the bookstore. Please contact us at kanabwritersconference@gmail.com for more information or to request space.

Will there be door prizes?

You bet! We’ve got books, gift certificates, and more. Some are local, others are not. There’s going to be a pretty wide offering.

Can I be a presenter?

We’re well staffed this year, but we’d love to have you participate next year. Watch our website after the conference for an application, or email us.
